Pointe St Gilles reviews
This site was fantastic, great new pool complex, lots of fun water slides and a toddler pool separate to the main pools. Even the toilets and washing blocks were brand new and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Great beaches within walking distance as well as Benodet itself which is a must visit. A great first trip to France for us, so good we will be returning to this area of the country next year. .
If you have young kids and you want an easy, quiet holiday for you to enjoy and the kids to be entertained throughout, then La Pointe St Gilles is definitely the place! There's lots for the kids to do with volleyball, mini golf, tennis, trampolines and a variety of kids clubs to keep them entertained. The pool complex is out of this world and I would probably say it's the best I have seen so far on any of my holidays. To give you a better impression, they have spent 2 million euros on the pool complex which has 3 slides (2 large winding slides) a lazy river, good sized baby pool and good sized outdoor pool and a indoor pool that is smaller but same depth. Most of the pools are covered by a huge dome, which retracts on sunny days.
Only negative about the holiday was that the bar, take-away and mini-mart was pricey. The general prices for French grocery shopping along with the poor exchange rate made eating and drinking more expensive than the UK. We tended to shop at the large supermarket (only 10 min walk) which was more reasonable. Ended up drinking wine rather than beer due to it being a lot cheaper and the bread tasted amazing and wasn’t that expensive.
There was lots to see in the surrounding area but we rarely ventured off the park so couldn't comment on any sightseeing. We did stroll down to the beach one day which was clean with some great views. Overall this was a fantastic holiday destination for families and would highly recommend it.
Had a lovely time at La Pointe St Gilles, couldn’t ask for anything more from a holiday. The facilities on the campsite were spotless and well looked after. Toilets and shower blocks were constantly being cleaned and restocked and the showers were constantly hot. The blocks even had baby bath’s with mini showers, which was great for my 2 year old. We stayed in a Eurocamp tent as we decided the weather wouldn’t be too hot to be a little more adventurous than the mobile homes. We did however have a fortnight of lovely sunny weather but the tent was still cool enough and the shower blocks are located close by for the kids to cool off. Our tent pitch was very spacious along with most of the other pitches in the great little area we had.
The kids loved the swimming complex which was fairly new with a great selection of water slides as well as it being beautifully landscaped. All the facilities on the site were second to none. My son was a little resilient to the canoeing but the trainers soon built his courage up. I was surprised by the amount of kids clubs available and even more surprising was how the reps coped with the amount of kids joining them. We only went off site for 2 days, taking advantage of the mini train from the campsite to Benodet which had a nice selection of restaurants and quaint shops. Will experiment with more campsites next year but would certainly return to this one!
