Sol a Gogo reviews

Sol a Gogo campsite, St Hilaire De Riez, Vendée, France

The Jenson Family | August 2016

Booked Sol a Gogo as our second campsite for our 2 week summer holiday. My family of 5 (3 kids aged 3, 8 and 9) had a lovely relaxing time here. The campsite is very clean facilities all well maintained. The location has plenty to offer with the site backing right onto the beach which has secure coded access. Lots to do close by from quad biking to crazy golf and a aqua park. The pool at Sol a Gogo is not as big as the site we first visited (la Garangeoire) but it is still a decent size and with the campsite being much smaller it didn’t get too busy. The area is a little commercial so if you after rustic French towns then you may have to travel further a field (certainly if you want a traditional French market). Out of the two sites we loved la Garangeoire the most but really glad we booked Sol a Gogo as our second site as it was a smaller more relaxed site for the end of our holiday. Would certainly return to the Vendee area again for a family holiday.

Had a lovely time at this campsite. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, nice bar and direct beach access. Sat outside on the veranda of our mobile every night and only had to use the patio heater twice. Had good weather throughout which helped and the Thomson mobile home was practically brand new and fully kitted out.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday in the Vendee. This was our first time in this area of France. The weather was lovely at a comfortable heat but it rained on the last two days. Stayed in a Thomson Al Fresco caravan which was modern, new and spotless. It had a decked area and large enough plot for the car and kids to play. The staff was running around all the time and it was difficult to grab them on the first day but managed to get their advice for places to visit on the second day. St Gilles Croix De Vie was our favourite place with lovely restaurants and scenery. I recommend trying the local delicacy of mogette, a dish usually served with gammon. Restaurants around the campsite we’re ok but would recommend travelling inland to taste the more traditional French cuisine. The takeaway on the site served pizza, fries and sandwiches and the local supermarket is nearby. Sol a Gogo is a well maintained site, very clean and friendly. The beach was immaculate and had plenty of watersports to entertain the boys and they also enjoyed the pool and couldn’t keep them off the basketball court. A nice site but wouldn’t rush back to the Vendee as it felt a little too touristy.

The Kelly Family | July 2009

We stayed at Sol a Gogo in July and would recommend it as an ideal site if you have youngsters. It is a small and quiet campsite with friendly staff who speak fluent English. The beach is accessible directly from the campsite and even the pool area with a gate entry. There is a takeaway on site which has good food but certainly not the cheapest. We would suggest the restaurant over the road which has a wider mix of dishes with a very nice atmosphere, reasonable prices too. The plots on the site have good privacy, our accommodation was dirty when we arrived but Keycamp cleaned it again. Our mobile home was not the newest on the site but plenty of others looked more modern so will stay will one of the other holiday companies next time. We hired a car but with everything so close you can probably get away without the expense.

Overall I would suggest Sol a Gogo as a nice relaxing campsite for young families.
