La Croix du Vieux Pont reviews
This was our second mobile home holiday in France and we would rate it high on the list of all our holidays so far as a family. We visited the campsite in June and luckily had the sun with us mid week with the weekend being a little disapointing. It is rather a large campsite with most of the plots protected by hedges to give a little privacy.
It is well maintained and kept very clean with the gardens manicured daily. A nice large playground although the pool was a little chilly. The main pool however had a roof which moved over on the cloudy days which I thought was clever. The people that ran the campsite are very friendly. The campsite supermarket was ok for basics but would recommend 'Cora' supermarket in Soissons for more variety, it sells absolutly everything! We visited Parc Asterix with the little ones which is certainly worth the money. It's rides and themes catered more for infants than teens but still a very nice themepark.
We booked this holiday through Thomson Alfresco (a cheap deal in the shop window) we paid an astonishing £270 for all four of us which also included the ferry in the price. This was our first campsite which we didn't expect much from considering the price but have to say we was pleasantly surprised! The campsite was immaculate as was the mobile home we stayed in. We even had a decked area with a outside patio heater for late evening meals. There was an abundance of things to do on and about La Croix du Vieux and I personally enjoyed the lovely fresh baguettes from the on site bakery in the morning. The restaurant was surprisingly nice for a campsite and the takeaway was adequete with plenty of pizza varieties if you feel a little lazy. Overall this was a fabulous holiday with no faults found and I must also mention the very helpful and friendly two Thompson reps who changed our gas patio bottle late at night so we could have our last meal outside. We were so impressedthat as soon as we got home we booked the campsite again for next year.
