La Baume reviews
We stayed at La Baume in August. Had glorious weather throughout our stay. Upon arrival campsite appeared clean and tidy and staff friendly and welcoming. We where shown to our mobile home, thankfully we opted for a air conditioning one as the heat was stifling! We dumped our bags and headed straight to the bar for a cool drink.
The campsite had loads of things to do to keep our 7 and 13 year olds happy including a campsite run activity club. There were also lots of pools so the kids didn't get bored so easily (even a indoor pool which is handy if you got crappy weather). The Restaurant was reasonably priced but got very busy on the weekends. So I'd advise getting there early or maybe use the takeaway like us.
There are lots of activities to do outside of the campsite and plenty of sights to see in Fréjus and Cannes. Overall I would recommend this campsite as it was easy to get to, plenty of activities for young and old, and the Al Fresco mobile homes were clean with plenty of space between each other which you don't always get on some campsites.
Excellent site with many varied facilities. The pools are large and spacious with plenty of sun loungers – so no need to worry about getting up at stupid o clock to get a good spot. We felt very safe with the lifeguards around the pool complex and they didn't tolerate any dangerous behaviour. The toilets and shower areas are very good (no soap in toilets though) and cleaned regularly throughout the day. There is lots to do in the area and the staff very informed and helpful. They gave us vouchers for reductions on the waterpark (Aqualand Frejus, the biggest I have ever seen) and a few nice restaurants in the area. Only downside I can think of is the motorway noise which can be heard from the Northern side of the park, we was on the other side in a Siblu home so this didn’t affect us but a few people we met complained and got moved.
Would suggest this site for lots of fun and plenty to do. Had such a good time, going back next year.
Our first time in this area of France and La Baume gets full marks from a great holiday experience. We flew in to Nice with the campsite being less than an hour away. It was easy to find and at first we was shocked to see a main road running along side, but we didn’t hear any traffic. The pools was certainly the best aspect of this campsite with loads of water slides, aquatic games for the kids and kept very clean. We ended up buying our beach towels in the local shop which was very pricey, so I would suggest a trip to the nearby supermarket which is half the price.
The campsite has the usual take-away which is food you would expect to find to keep the kids happy. We found the restaurant rather nice but very popular so book in advance to avoid disapointment. Evening entertainment was great for the kids and there are two small bars that close before midnight so the noise level is kept down. The caravan we hired was clean and spacious and they all had small bushes around them to keep them private. Would say this campsite was fantastic for a family as our two youngsters loved every minute and wanted to stay longer.
Would be happy to return in the future.
This campsite is a great base for the seeing the sights of the Riviera. Close by is the Grand Canyon du Verdon which has Spectacular views of Castellane to the Lac de Ste Croix. St Aygulf beach is also close by which wasn’t too busy and very clean. The campsite has a new pool area with a good sized Jacuzzi and a fancy steam room. Live entertainment and a disco is arranged most nights and the restaurant was worth the wait after a long time in the cue. Only negative about La Baume is that it is located close to a busy road that we could hear at night. We stayed with Keycamp who had very polite and friendly staff, and the mobile home was very modern and clean however it was located close to the road which was unfortnate. The campsite had plenty of tour operators who have better pitches. Don't let this put you off though as the campsite has lots of amenities and plenty to see in the surrounding area.
Average campsite with lots to do. Good space around the tents and caravans and well positioned trees provided good privacy. Main pool is large but got very busy. Lifeguards are strict. Tent was dusty and often attracted lots of bugs. Good family activities nearby, go-kart track, zoo, beaches and a large supermarket. Need a car to get to anywhere off site. St Tropez 1 hour boat ride away. Nearest beach 3 miles. Be careful on the many roundabouts in the area as the French lack patience.
Forth time staying at La Baume and love every visit. We choose this particular campsite due to the wealth of sports and activities on offer such as archery, badminton, football, volleyball, tennis, a climbing wall that my eldest son got to grips with. We often hire bikes from the campsite which is a fairly good price (8 euros per day, 6 euros for kids) and cheaper than hiring a car. There is lots of nice sights in the area but believe me, the campsite has so much to do the kids will never get bored. I recommend booking one of the kids clubs early so they get to make friends from the start of the holiday. Al in all, top marks for a fun and active family holiday.
