El Bahira reviews
A great campsite located right on the beach. We really enjoyed our stay here. The campsite was quiet when we stayed as it was out of season, but this suited us just fine. Accommodation was clean, but there is no privacy between mobile homes. The reps were very friendly and knowledgeable. Were there if you needed them, but were not in your face.
Campsite has two pools, which are nothing fancy and there are no slides if your kids like that sort of thing. But they were both clean. The only annoying thing was that they close the pool for siesta time.
There area is nice, but you definitely need to hire a car if you are staying at the campsite as the nearest town (San Vito Lo Capo) isn't walkable, and unless you are a keen cyclist, I wouldn’t recommend biking it either. The local town is lovely though, with nice shops and restaurants. And the beach on the edge of town is lovely with very clear water. Just a bit further on from the town is the huge Zingaro nature reserve, which is well worth a visit, although be warmed the road there is very windy on a cliff edge!!
A well organised campsite close to the Zingaro Nature Park. Unlike other campsites that we have stayed at, most of the people who stay at El Bahira are not British, which we actually quite liked (language wasn't a problem as all the staff spoke English).
There are two swimming pools (which were closed between 1pm and 4pm whilst we were there). We spent most of our holiday visiting the surrounding areas, but we did occasionally use the tennis courts and football pitches. The park also has a pizzeria and bar, where we ate a couple of times. The food was good and reasonably priced. There is also a supermarket on site, where you can stock up on most things that you will need.
I would recommend this campsite to families looking for a good base to see the local area.
We (family of 5) stayed here in July. It's a well run campsite, and the staff were really helpful. There is a pretty beach next to the campsite, but it is mainly shingle/rock. One thing to note about the campsite is that they have a siesta between 2-4pm, during which you are not allowed to move your car on or off the site (so leave your car outside the campsite gates in the morning if you plan on leaving the site during siesta), and you are supposed to turn off anything that makes a noise. The pools were also closed during the siesta. Overall we had a great holiday here, and may even return again in a few years time.
