Domaine du Verdon reviews
Stayed at Camp du Verdon for 10 days in May 2010. The campsite has a medium sized pool with slides and a shallow pool. The usual restaurant and fast food take out was available which was surprisingly good quality for a campsite. There was evening entertainment on stage for the children as well as pool, table football and a few entertaining sports and a playground. The campsite shop was rather expensiveso we used the local Casino supermarket close by. There were not many sun loungers by the pool but the campsite wasn't full at the time so they may have more when it gets busier. The mobile home we booked was modern and very clean. We booked with Suncamp due to them being the cheapest. We were lucky to have one of the biggest pitches on the site which had a really nice view of open countryside. Best of all was the local area, especially the Gorges du Verdon. Definetly recommend Castellane town as well for great restaurants and picturesc views.
We had a wonderful time at Camping Du Verdon and would recommend this area of France to all that love the outdoors. There is tons to see with lots of lovely towns, in short our favourites were:
+ The Rock in Castellane - had a lovely little church on top of the uphill walk (about half an hour). The sunset is beautiful from here.
+ Castellane lake is lovely - very clear turtoise water due to the limestone and a safe clean place to swim.
+ Experience the whole Grand Canyon du Verdon - it's all breathtaking!
+ Try the rafting, we used Abroad Rafting in Castellane who were excellent guides for showing us lots of great sights. We explored the rock pools and tried abseiling but chicken'd out of the Rock climbing.
